Precision and Play: A Woodland Spoon Carving Retreat with Adam Hawker & Jeffrey Hart

£180.00

16th & 17th August 2025

Join us for an immersive weekend of carving eating spoons in the serene woods, led by two master craftspeople, Adam Hawker and Jeffrey Hart. This unique experience offers tuition from two accomplished tutors with distinct and complementary styles.

Adam Hawker, known as "Mr. Precision," will guide you through the art of immaculate marking out and meticulous finishing techniques. Under his expert eye, you'll learn a methodical step by step process to create pieces with millimeter-perfect accuracy and an unparalleled fine finish.

In contrast, Jeffrey Hart will introduce you to a more free-form approach with his "sketching in wood" technique. With a few guiding design principles to work with, he will help you explore and develop your personal carving style, encouraging creativity and self-expression in your work. Jeffrey will also show milk paint finishing techniques to add color and texture to your pieces, giving your creations a unique and vibrant touch.

Beyond the craft, this weekend is a perfect opportunity to unwind and reconnect with nature. Enjoy the peaceful setting as we cook over the fire, spend evenings gathered around its warmth, and share stories under the stars. The kettle will always be on, and there will be plenty of moments to relax and chat with like-minded folks who share your passion for carving and the outdoors. It’s more than just a workshop—it’s a rejuvenating retreat where skills and friendships grow together.

For those who wish to extend their experience, there is an option to join us on the Monday following the weekend for some relaxed free carving. This is the perfect time to practice your new skills at your own pace, continue refining your work, and enjoy one last day in the tranquil woods.

This weekend workshop is designed for those who have already carved at least 10 spoons and come equipped with their own tools. Whether you're drawn to exacting precision or a looser, more artistic approach, this weekend is perfect for both honing your skills and enjoying the beauty of nature as you craft. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from two incredible tutors in the heart of the woods.
